Overview of the Program

The Electrical Engineering program at ITMO University was established following the reorganization of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Precision Electromechanical Systems. This strategic restructuring has allowed the program to expand and modernize its offerings, catering to contemporary industry needs and technological advancements.

Educational Programs

The department currently offers two master’s degree programs: Electrical Engineering (13.04.02) and Drive Systems Engineering (15.04.06). These programs are designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in electrical engineering, focusing on both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The curriculum is enhanced by the active involvement of faculty members and graduate students in industrial projects, which ensures that the education provided is aligned with real-world applications.

 

Research and Projects

The Electrical Engineering team at ITMO University is involved in cutting-edge research and development projects, including:

  1. Wind Turbine Control Systems and Power Electronics: The team designs advanced control systems and power electronics for wind turbines, enhancing efficiency and reliability in renewable energy generation.
  2. Dual Active Bridge Design for Electric Aircraft: This project focuses on developing dual active bridge converters, which are crucial for the efficient power management in electric aircraft, contributing to the advancement of sustainable aviation technologies.
  3. Distributed Energy Systems and Algorithms: The team is also engaged in creating distributed energy systems and the algorithms that control them. These systems are vital for the integration and management of renewable energy sources within the power grid.
